prayer

"Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” - James 5:16

40 Day ONE Prayer Initiative

This Lent, we’re inviting our church family to slow down, focus in, and pray with purpose.

For the next 40 days, we’re asking everyone to choose ONE prayer focus and bring it before God every day for at least 5 minutes. The goal isn’t perfect words or long prayers — it’s faithful, consistent time with God.

Ask yourself: Where do I need God’s help the most right now?

We invite everyone to choose their ONE prayer from one of the following areas.

Choose Your ONE Prayer Focus

Something in You
A place where God wants to bring growth or healing.

Examples:

  • A habit you want to change
  • Fear, stress, or anger
  • Feeling distant from God

Someone You Care About
A person God has placed on your heart.

Examples:

  • A child
  • A spouse
  • A friend
  • A broken relationship

A Situation You Can’t Control

A circumstance to place in God’s hands.

Examples:

  • Health
  • Work or finances
  • A big decision
  • The future

Once you choose your ONE prayer focus, bring that same request to God each day — simply and honestly.

How to Practice ONE Prayer During Lent

If you’re already participating in the 5x5x5 Bible Reading Plan, use the 5 minutes of prayer time each day to focus on your ONE prayer. After reading Scripture, bring that same prayer before God consistently throughout Lent.

If you’re not currently doing the 5x5x5 plan, we invite you to set aside at least 5 minutes each day to pray your ONE prayer. Choose a regular time and place — morning, lunch break, or before bed — and keep showing up. Consistency matters more than perfection.

Over these 40 days, we trust God to meet us, shape us, and grow our faith as we remain faithful in prayer.

Pray Together

You’re also invited to post your ONE prayer on the prayer board in the Gallery. This allows others to come alongside you, pray with you, and encourage you throughout the journey.

Whether you’re new to prayer or have been praying for years, this is an opportunity to build a daily rhythm of trust, surrender, and hope.

Let’s walk through Lent together — one prayer, one day at a time.
