All programming suspended

All programming suspended

Due to the recent outbreak of the COVID-19 virus throughout the United States and in response to the request of our governor, Cornerstone will be suspending all church activities for the next two weeks. This means that we will not gather for worship in our facilities this week, March 15th or next, March 22nd. After that we will re-evaluate the situation and if we need to postpone things longer than that we will let you know. However, we will make our worship services available online at their regularly scheduled times of 9:00 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. through Facebook live. We will send you a link for that broadcast on Sunday morning.  If you do not have access to Facebook, we will also provide a Vimeo link to view the service.

This also means that our membership classes and our Baptism class have been postponed and will be rescheduled when the virus is under control.

Our March 29th baptism service will be rescheduled on a date to be determined.

The Middle School retreat this weekend and the Women’s Retreat next weekend have been postponed to be rescheduled at another time.

All children’s and youth programming have been suspended.

All Life Groups are suspended, but we encourage everyone to stay in touch with one another through calls, texts, emails and video chat. Our goal is to remain a community praying and caring for one another even though we cannot gather in one place. We will send a follow up email with all the ways you can stay connected over the next few weeks.

It is worth stating that the goal in all of this is not so much to protect the healthy, but to care for the vulnerable. For most of us, being infected with the COVID-19 virus would be inconvenient. But for those who cannot fight off the virus- the elderly, those with compromised immune systems, or suffering from other conditions it could be deadly. Since we are communicable long before we know we are sick, no one wants to pass this along to a vulnerable person. The heart of the Christian life is to love our neighbor as we love ourselves. We believe we are doing this with these cautions.

In addition to emails, we will be updating our website on a regular basis with new information.  You can go directly to the webpage www.cornerstonenj.org/coronavirus or visit us on social media.   I look forward to staying connected with all of you throughout the next few weeks.  See you online.
